City and Guilds Level 3 AMSPAR Certificate in Medical Word Processing

Aimed at existing NHS/private practice staff, return workers, mature students and anyone considering a career as a medical secretary or administrator. This course gives the student a full level 3 City & Guilds qualification following a successful course of study and examination. 

Course content

Consists of 6 parts to be studied over 3 months (based on around 3 hours study a week)

The course is run over 3 months with assignment based tasks split into 6 units.

Course objectives:

To give full understanding and skills relating to word processing in an office and specifically a medical environment

Course assessment and delivery:

  • Available online through the BSMSA training website
  • Full individual tutorial support – each student will be allotted a mentor who will provide information and advice on study skills, guidance and support
  • Self assessment tests
  • Mentor-marked end of module assignments
  • Course to be completed within 6 months maximum or further charges will be incurred

Final assessment:

Once all units and assignments have been completed, a final assignment will be undertaken. This will cover all unit contents and will be a mentor marked final assessment and evaluation.


Students will be required to complete an examination at a City and Guilds centre in London, Birmingham or Manchester following successful completion of the course of study
